Goals, Gratitude & Growth: Wrapping Up 2025 with a Vision for 2026
2025 was a full year. Full of photographs, full of footsteps through forests, full of hours spent editing, learning, and trying to become better. It was the year Jurnalul f/5.6 truly took shape becoming my dedicated space for visual stories, technical reflections, and personal moments. The year I began publishing consistently, documenting consciously, experimenting without fear, and embracing growth, even when it was messy. I made mistakes, scrapped edits, rewrote drafts, tried again and learned.
Looking back now, I realize that all the seemingly small things those unshared edits, the quiet walks, the hours behind the screen added up to something big: the way I now see nature, photography, and my own path.
At the beginning of 2025, I didn’t have a clear roadmap. All I knew was that I didn’t want another year of simply posting on Instagram out of routine. I craved something deeper. So I started making choices I never thought would reshape my photographic and personal journey so profoundly. One of those choices was to stop shooting just to shoot—and start focusing on emotion, storytelling, and presence in every frame.
The first project I’d been postponing for far too long was launching my personal website — Jurnalul f/5.6. It quickly became the core of my creative work: a home for articles, visual diaries, technical guides, and future ideas. Around this space, I built a clear and cohesive portfolio, with pages like “My Gear,” “Blog,” “Shop,” and more.
Another major focus of 2025 was growing my Instagram. While I didn’t reach my goal of 10K followers by year’s end, I still feel proud because I learned valuable lessons that will guide my growth in 2026. I’ll share more about that in a future article dedicated to my Instagram strategy. But what I can say now is this: thanks to that journey, I connected with talented photographers from all over the world. And those connections helped me become a better artist.
I also managed to create more content for my Patreon, even if I know I could’ve done more. That’s okay. The year is over—and I’m taking everything I’ve learned with me into the next. I promise: 2026 will bring more tutorials, more behind-the-scenes, and more creative energy. Some of the most appreciated posts this year were editing breakdowns and travel journals with my dog, Snow.
One beautiful outcome of growing my audience was being noticed by Nikon Romania—who kindly invited me to test the Nikon Z8. And I can honestly say, it’s one of the most powerful cameras I’ve worked with.
On a personal level, 2025 was unforgettable. I traveled to the Dolomites—one of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever seen. Every step felt like a cinematic frame, and every view reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. If you’re curious about this trip, I’ve published several photo stories on my blog and Patreon.
🧠 Personal Lessons from 2025
1. Intention beats frequency.
I learned that you don’t need to post every day to grow. One honest post, infused with soul, has more impact than ten made on autopilot.
2. Rest is part of the process.
There were days I didn’t take a single photo, didn’t edit or write—and somehow, those were the days I found clarity again.
3. Enjoy the journey.
This year, I found more joy in walking through the forest than in the final image. More peace behind the camera than in the likes it received.
❌ Things I didn’t accomplish and what they taught me
I didn’t reach 10K followers on Instagram.
I didn’t publish as often as I wanted on Patreon.
I didn’t finish all the projects and drafts I had planned.
But you know what? That’s okay. Not everything meaningful happens quickly. Sometimes, slow progress is the healthiest kind. Missed goals aren’t failures—they’re opportunities to recalibrate, realign, and rethink what really matters.
🌱 Moments that truly brought joy in 2025
📷 1. First blog post published
Launching Jurnalul f/5.6 marked a turning point. That first photo paired with a heartfelt text felt like a new beginning.
🌄 2. Sunrise in the Dolomites
A golden morning, Snow by my side, the silence of the mountains, and light pouring over the peaks pure magic.
🐝 3. Pollinator awareness project
My photo series dedicated to bees and bumblebees became one of my most appreciated posts. It reminded me that photography can also give voice to nature.
📸 4. Nikon Romania collaboration
Being contacted by Nikon and testing the Z8 was more than exciting it felt like a real validation of my efforts.
🎞️ 5. First behind-the-scenes & editing videos on Patreon
Sharing my process step by step opened a new chapter. It was both challenging and rewarding to see how well this content was received.
🧩 Harder moments (and the growth they brought)
⏳ 1. Inconsistency on Patreon
Some months, I fell behind. I’ve learned that showing up regularly even with less—is more valuable than trying to do too much at once.
🧠 2. Delaying creative ideas out of fear
Some projects felt “too big” or “not good enough yet.” But the truth is, you’re never fully ready. Sometimes, you have to begin anyway.
📉 3. Not reaching 10K followers
It would’ve been nice. But I learned more from the journey than the number. The slow path taught me more about content, strategy, and connection than a quick win ever could.
🔋 4. Creative burnout
Mid-year, I felt drained. My edits felt repetitive, my spark dimmed. It was a wake-up call to rest, to walk in the woods without the camera, and to honor stillness.
🎯 What I’m aiming for in 2026
📚 1. Make Jurnalul f/5.6 a reference point
A place where nature lovers, storytellers, and fellow photographers find value. I’ll be posting stories, guides, experiments, and reflections.
🎬 2. Create cinematic and educational video content
The Dolomites vlogs were just the beginning. I want to blend visuals with voiceovers, creating space for pause, presence, and narrative.
📈 3. Grow Instagram and Patreon sustainably
No rush, no tricks—just real community. I aim for 10K followers and 4–5 valuable posts monthly on Patreon.
🐞 4. Finalize my “Hidden World” project
From photos to stories to a printed album—this macro project will finally take full form in 2026.
🌲 5. Go into nature without a plan
Photography is a passion, but I also want walks with no posting agenda. Just silence, light, and presence.
🧭 In Closing
2025 showed me that real growth isn’t made of big leaps it’s made of steady, thoughtful steps. Of choosing depth over noise. Of daring to start, even when the vision isn’t perfect yet.
Each article written, each late-night edit, each photo shared or shelved all shaped what I now call Jurnalul f/5.6.
I don’t know what 2026 will bring. But I know what I’ll carry with me:
→ The joy of noticing the world up close
→ The intention to stay connected to nature and people
→ And gratitude for you, the one reading this now
See you in 2026—with stories, with light, and with many frames still waiting to be captured. 📸🌲
